1988-2012... 24 years of purrs... 24 years of purpose...
One of our favorite things at Good Mews is to see our shelter cats in their forever homes! It reminds all of us why we do what we do everyday in our efforts of “finding good homes for good kitties.” We hope you enjoy reading all of our happy endings stories and seeing how great the cats are doing. We encourage all of you to send us your cats’ stories and photos to place on our website! Please email (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) with your happy endings!
Hi Good Mews! I am sorry that it took me (Grits formerly Starkist) so long to write you! Things have been so hectic lately, especially with the holidays. I just wanted to give you on update on how I was doing, which happens to be WONDERFUL by the way! When James and Christina first took me home they let me know on the drive that they had another cat named Gabby, and that they thought we would make perfect friends. Gabby was older and would show me the ropes, and BOY DID SHE! After only a couple of days we were sleeping and cuddling next to each other, and I was getting all of my fur groomed.

After we quickly became best friends, we were double trouble for mommy and daddy. They seem to not mind so much as they let me get away with all of it (even when I wake mommy up by licking her face at 3 in the morning). When the holidays rolled around it seemed like there was even more trouble for me to get into. I made a little home in mom and dad’s Christmas tree where I spent time taking naps (see if you can find me in the tree!). Plus, I even got to help wrap presents…and I made sure that every gift came with some cat hair!

Lately I have been very busy with my hobbies. I help mommy coupon every Saturday. I think that I am much better at it than she is!

I’m so active all day, that every now and then I have to take a break and relax – and what’s better than watching football on Sundays with Gabby? We lay on the television stand during half time, but love to watch the players throwing the ball around the field during play! Daddy said he can tell that I am a Falcon’s fan and I think he is right!

Lastly, I thought I would share a few of mommy’s favorite pictures with you. She has about a million photos of me and she said that I am very photogenic; wouldn’t you be if you were this cute?

Well, I better get going. Me and Gabby have to hang out in the bathtub while Mommy gets ready for work!

Thank you Good Mews for taking such good care of me until I found my forever home. I am healthy, I am happy, and I have a best friend that I share every moment with. My mommy and daddy give me so much attention and love. This will not be the last time that you hear from me! With lots of love, Grits (mom and dad think it’s cute somehow to call me “Griddly Cakes”)
Belinda & Provolone have been with me for four months now and every day just gets better! They were very shy at first, and hid under the bed until I went to sleep. One night I hid under the covers to spy on Provolone, since he always ran away when he saw me. After a long time, he crept out from under the bed. He then started rolling around on the floor and stretching. He eventually picked up a sock and started throwing it around! I laughed at him and he saw me and hid again, but after that I knew he was happy here even if he wasn’t comfortable around me yet. Belinda would come out and explore, but seemed to prefer to stay under the bed. Eventually I realized the bed was too high, and I moved the cat tree closer so she could use it as a step-stool. She has slept on the bed with me every night since, and Provolone sleeps with us, too.

Belinda has turned out to be quite the Diva. If I’m petting Provy when I’m supposed to be petting her, she leaves and goes to the kitchen. However, she can’t go alone, so she pauses in the doorway and looks over her shoulder until Provolone gets the hint and follows her. She’s also not shy about making demands - most mornings when I’m getting ready for work, she sits in the bathroom door and tries to summon me to the kitchen.

Provolone loves to explore. The first thing he did when he got out of the safe room was find new hiding places. He’s learned how to open the kitchen cabinets, and doesn’t mind if he has to slam the door a few dozen times to get it open. He showed Belinda how to do it, too, so sometimes I find her asleep on top of the pile of plastic bags. Belinda can’t jump on the counters, though, so I only find Provolone asleep on the plates. I’m very impressed because he never knocks over any of the glasses.

Besides being curious, Provolone is also very frisky! He likes to wake up at 4 or 5 in the morning and do a few laps around the apartment, and jump up and down from his cat tree. He tries to play pounce with Belinda but she just scolds him. He’s very suspicious of any toy that I’m wielding, and is more alarmed than intrigued by things moving under the covers, so keeping him entertained is an on-going process. I did find out that both he and Belinda like to watch cat videos on YouTube.

Both of them are still a little shy, and like me best when I’m laying down in bed. They still run away if I approach them standing up, but every day they run a little less far. They’ve also become comfortable with coming up to me to see what I’m doing on the computer, or to investigate my food, so I can see progress all the time. I’m so grateful to have two cats that are so full of personality, and who absolutely love each other! Thank you, Good Mews!
Here are some recent pictures of Weasley (formerly Pilgrim) in his new place. He is certainly making himself at home after adoption from Good Mews. He is a sweet and friendly guy!

Madison is a tiny girl that has the most adorable little face. To me she resembles a little owl. Madison came to Good Mews several months ago and was quickly adopted. She was later returned because she wasn’t adjusting to her new home.
Madison is a shy kitty that will need a patient adopter that will be willing to give her some time to adjust. We think a quiet home would probably be best. She really is a sweet girl that likes attention. When I hold her she will cuddle into me and she pretty much stays there until I place her down. She likes to play and will roll around on her back when you dangle a toy in front of her. Madison loves treats and when you have a bag of treats in your hands she will look up at you with those adorable round eyes of hers and say “may I have some treats please?”.
Often times shy kitties are over-looked for the more outgoing, social cats. But once a shy cat gets home and you are patient and work with them, they do come around. And once they do, they are the most wonderful, special kitties in the world. They just need a chance. And our sweet Madison needs a chance. So if you want to bring a shy sweet girl into your life, please consider Madison.
