Description
Abigail and her friends are our rescued kitties from Pennsylvania. . The ASPCA contacted us and asked if we would be willing to assist in taking in some cats that were rescued from a sanctuary there. We said of course we could help!
The ASPCA and the Elk County Humane Society in PA rescued nearly 400 cats from the sanctuary. The cats were found living in deplorable conditions on the first floor of a two-story building outside of Pittsburg. Several people assisted in the care of the cats and over 50 were transported to Georgia. Good Mews was able to take in 12. On the 4th of July we went to pick up our cats at the Atlanta Humane Society and brought them to their temporary home until permanent loving homes can be found.
You would think after everything these kitties have been through they would be weary of humans, but they are the sweetest angels you will ever meet. They purr when you pet them; some will even hug you. They were so excited when we placed them in their intake cages and they saw their comfy bed and food and water, they were purring up a storm!
We are so thrilled and honored to be able to help these cats and can’t wait to learn more about their personalities. They have been through so much in their lives and they deserve a loving home. We can’t wait to find those homes for them. But until then, we are going to enjoy having them with us. Please come by and meet them!
We will give updates as we learn more about them!
Update-Abigail is a very vocal girl with a lot to say! She is asking for you to come see her and be with her, but when you go sit with her, she gets nervous. But once you sit and talk to her for awhile and slowly pet her, she starts to feel comfortable and calms down. She is a beautiful girl that just needs a loving, patient home. Once she starts to feel loved and secure, she will be a wonderful kitty. She loves people and attention, it just takes her a little while to feel safe. I hope that special someone comes to see her soon.

Agatha is a beautiful calico girl that was found living in a trailer park along with Leo, who we think is her son. They were pretty much taking care of themselves until some kind people found them rescue and they went into foster fare. When space was available, they came to Good Mews. Agatha has a darling little stubby tail that she waggles like a doggie. She is a cheerful girl that is vocal and enjoys chatting with you. Agatha is affectionate and enjoys her lap time, but does have her limits. She enjoys human companionship very much, but she also likes her quiet time. Agatha would do fine in a home with another cat, or would do great as an only cat. Come meet this beauty soon!

Alice and friends lost their home when their guardian had to leave town for a very long extended period of time and he did not have anyone to care for them. He was very sad to have to re-home his cats and we could see how painful it was for him, so we agreed to help. It is always hard to have to leave your furry friends behind but sometimes you have to make decisions that are in the best interest of the cats, and that is what he did. We promised him they were safe with us and we would provide them with all the love and care that he did until new homes could be found.
Right now they are scared and confused and do not understand where they are, which is always the case with cats that come from loving homes. This behavior is nothing new to us and we are prepared. We are going to do all we can to make them feel loved and secure and give them a lot of attention and in no time they will start to feel better. They will soon realize Good Mews is a fun place, not a scary place!
Just by petting and sitting with them, I know they are sweet cats. They are beautiful kitties and I am looking forward to learning more about them. Once I do, I will give updates!
Alice is a beautiful medium haired beauty that looks just like her sister Snickers. She is a little shy, but enjoys being petted and talked to. Once she gets to know you she is very friendly. I think she will make a wonderful companion.

Ashley and Zweena came from a very loving home, but their mother must go into an assisted living because she is very ill. She loved her kitties very much and took good care of them. She rescued them from a horrible hoarding situation and provided them with the loving home that they deserved. She wanted to make sure they found a new loving home, so she contacted us, in hopes that we could help her. We told her we would be more than happy to help her and her babies. We recently took in Sunshine and Ms. Smokey, who already found a wonderful home together!
Ashley is a very beautiful girl who right now is scared and confused. She does not understand why she is not home with her loving mom and at the shelter. We told her everything is going to be alright, that her brother and sister were recently here and they found a home and the same will happen to her! We hope she understands.
Her mom describes her as shy, but very loving and affectionate. She likes to be held and will give head-butts. I think she will be just fine once she finds that perfect someone to love her.
We will give updates once we learn more about her!

Ashley lost his home when his guardian was financially unable to care for him anymore. She thought it would be best if he was able to go to a new home where he could be cared for and she had his best interest at heart. Ashley is a very friendly fellow but can be a little moody at times. But that is OK..I think we all get moody, don’t we? Why should cats be any different? Ashley is also a curious kitty and likes to know what is going on. He likes to sit and talk to his person and has an affectionate side. I think Ashley is an interesting kitty and would make a fun companion. He would make a wonderful only cat if you are looking for a cool guy to hang out with.
Update-The more I get to know Ashley, the more I love him! He loves people and his favorite thing to do is crawl up onto your shoulder (and it doesn’t matter how he gets there! He will crawl up the front of you or the back of you!) and sit there. He loves to sit on you so if you want a lap kitty, Ashley is for you. He also has a hair fetish. He loves to lick people’s hair! Ashley is just a funny guy and I adore him. He would make a wonderful companion and fun company. He is also very beautiful.

Belinda and Provolone make the perfect couple. Yes, she is a bit older than him, but there is nothing wrong with being in love with a younger man, or an older woman!
How did these two love-birds meet? I will tell you:
Belinda was adopted from the shelter when she was a kitten. A few years later, she was returned to Good Mews. She was so depressed she had to be force-fed. She did not understand why she lost her home, so she did not want to go on living. But we were not going to let her die! So we fed her by hand, and gave her tons of love and told her not to worry, life would get better!
Provolone also came to the shelter as a kitten. He was the shyest kitten in his litter. He watched all his siblings go to forever homes, but nobody ever picked him. Before he knew it he was removed from the kitten room and placed in the shelter with the big kitties. So he made the best of it and tried to make friends. Then one day he saw a sad kitty sitting all alone. He went to comfort her and soon Belinda was back to her happy self. She found someone to love.
These 2 are always found together, snuggling. Lots of times we will see Provolone lying right on top of Belinda, I don’t know how she breaths. But she is not bothered by it.
Both are a little shy, but still love people. Once you start to pet Belinda she begins to purr…and she has the loudest purr!! Provolone is a very sweet boy and is starting to enjoy people petting him and showering him with affection. He feels more comfortable when he is with Belinda and will allow you to hug and kiss him, as long as she is around. They are seeking a quiet home together. If you are looking for 2 extremely bonded cats, please come meet this couple!

Big Boy came to Good Mews when his guardian had to enter a nursing home. This was very confusing for Big Boy because he had such a loving home for so long! But we are glad that Big Boy was able to come to Good Mews and we promised him we would find him a new loving home.
Big Boy is a senior, but you wouldn’t know it! I often see him playing and wrestling with some of our younger kitties! This beautiful boy loves people and would make a wonderful companion.
He would do well in a home with other cats, but he would also be happy as an only cat, as long as you promise to play with him!

Ed and Ralph are very handsome boys that look like twins! Ed is a little shyer than Ralph but both are friendly kitties that enjoy being petted and kissed. I really like these guys. They appear to really love each other so they are seeking a home together.
