Description

Abigail and her friends are our rescued kitties from Pennsylvania. . The ASPCA contacted us and asked if we would be willing to assist in taking in some cats that were rescued from a sanctuary there.  We said of course we could help!
The ASPCA and the Elk County Humane Society in PA rescued nearly 400 cats from the sanctuary. The cats were found living in deplorable conditions on the first floor of a two-story building outside of Pittsburg.  Several people assisted in the care of the cats and over 50 were transported to Georgia. Good Mews was able to take in 12. On the 4th of July we went to pick up our cats at the Atlanta Humane Society and brought them to their temporary home until permanent loving homes can be found.
You would think after everything these kitties have been through they would be weary of humans, but they are the sweetest angels you will ever meet. They purr when you pet them; some will even hug you. They were so excited when we placed them in their intake cages and they saw their comfy bed and food and water, they were purring up a storm!
We are so thrilled and honored to be able to help these cats and can’t wait to learn more about their personalities. They have been through so much in their lives and they deserve a loving home. We can’t wait to find those homes for them. But until then, we are going to enjoy having them with us. Please come by and meet them!
We will give updates as we learn more about them!

Update-Abigail is a very vocal girl with a lot to say! She is asking for you to come see her and be with her, but when you go sit with her, she gets nervous. But once you sit and talk to her for awhile and slowly pet her, she starts to feel comfortable and calms down. She is a beautiful girl that just needs a loving, patient home. Once she starts to feel loved and secure, she will be a wonderful kitty.  She loves people and attention, it just takes her a little while to feel safe. I hope that special someone comes to see her soon.

Update-Abigail has come a long way since she first came to the shelter. She is not as shy as she used to be and really likes people. She enjoys being petted and will roll over for belly-rubs! Sometimes when she is feeling frisky, she will let me kiss that little belly of hers! Abigail really is a beautiful girl, and I think she would do great in a home. She may be a little shy at first in a new enviroment, but once she knows she is safe and loved, she will be a wonderful addition to a home. She also loves other kitties and we often see her chasing and wrestling with some of her best buddies. She will also cuddle and groom them.

Description

Abner and Ella are two very sweet cats but very shy right now because they don’t understand what is happening to them. They have been through so much lately so right now they are a bit scared.
Abner and Ella’s loving guardian had a stroke and had to go into an assisted living. They were very bonded with her and she loved her kitties very much. The family took the cats in, but they have dogs and Abner and Ella are very afraid of dogs, so they stayed hidden in the closet! The daughter contacted Good Mews and asked if we could help. We couldn’t stand to think of poor Abner and Ella living in a closet, in fear, so we agreed to take them in. So it is understandable why these babies are so scared right now. They lost their loving home and have been bounced around from one scary place to another! They are probably wondering what will happen next! Well, we are hoping a new loving home will happen next.
Abner and Ella will appear very shy when you meet them, but they enjoy it when you pet them. I strongly feel once they go to their new forever home and start to feel safe and loved again, they will come out of their shell and be very loving kitties. They just need a chance. Please come meet this pair soon.
A home with no dogs would be best for them.
Abner and Ella must be adopted together.
Both are front declawed.

Description

Alice and friends lost their home when their guardian had to leave town for a very long extended period of time and he did not have anyone to care for them. He was very sad to have to re-home his cats and we could see how painful it was for him, so we agreed to help. It is always hard to have to leave your furry friends behind but sometimes you have to make decisions that are in the best interest of the cats, and that is what he did. We promised him they were safe with us and we would provide them with all the love and care that he did until new homes could be found.
Right now they are scared and confused and do not understand where they are, which is always the case with cats that come from loving homes. This behavior is nothing new to us and we are prepared. We are going to do all we can to make them feel loved and secure and give them a lot of attention and in no time they will start to feel better. They will soon realize Good Mews is a fun place, not a scary place!
Just by petting and sitting with them, I know they are sweet cats. They are beautiful kitties and I am looking forward to learning more about them. Once I do, I will give updates!

Alice is a beautiful medium haired beauty that looks just like her sister Snickers. She is a little shy, but enjoys being petted and talked to. Once she gets to know you she is very friendly. I think she will make a wonderful companion.

Description

Andouille is a funny little girl that likes to have her belly and toes tickled! She really is adorable and her silly antics will make you laugh. She loves to play with toys and other kitties and just likes to have a good time! She will come across as shy at first but once she is comfortable, her fun little personality will emerge.
Audouille was rescued from animal control and she is the daughter of Hot Dog who is still at the shelter. Audouille would love to have her own special home where she can be loved and cared for and have someone that will play with her. She is a wonderful kitty and I think she would make a fun companion. Audouille loves other kitties so she is seeking a home where she will have a playmate.

Update-What a fun cat Andouille is! I have fallen in love with this little girl and am really surprised she hasn’t been adopted yet. She is so full of life and has the spunkiest personality. She is often seen zipping around the shelter, having a good old time. She makes me laugh because she will run so fast, and then try to stop and start sliding. She is also very affectionate and likes to be held and cuddled. The other day I held her like a baby and covered her little face with kisses. She did not resist at all and was comfortable being loved on.
Audouille gets along great with other kitties and is very comfortable in her surroundings. I think she would adjust pretty quick in a new home. Come meet this darling girl soon, I think you will fall in love with her as well!

A generous donor has paid for Audouille’s adoption fee!

Description

Annabelle is a beautiful girl that is waiting quietly for her new family to come through the door and take her home. Annabelle was abandoned for reasons unknown to us. She is such a lovely cat, we don’t know how anyone could give her up. But there are so many reasons why people have to give up their pets, we wont even begin to try to guess.
Annabelle is a little shy at first but don’t that that fool you. Once she feels comfortable in her environment, her true colors will shine. She loves to be petted and dotted on.  Annabelle is hoping someone will pick her soon and take her home. She is longing to have her own person to cuddle up with at night and spend lazy afternoons with on the couch. Come meet Annabelle and see if she is the girl for you!

Description

Annie and friends came from a no-kill shelter in Macon that had to shut down. The shelter needed to find new homes or rescues for all of the cats and we agreed to take in five. It is so hard finding homes or rescues for a large number of cats in a certain amount of time, so we were glad that we were able to help them.  The cats have been through a lot of changes in the past few weeks so they are a little confused about their new surroundings, but they are settling in nicely and are doing great. They are all lovely cats and we hope they are on their way to exciting new lives!

When I went to spend time with Annie she looked a little sad and confused. When I reached over to pet her she hissed at me, but then she told me she was just kidding and started purring. Annie likes attention and enjoys being petted but with all the changes in her life lately, she doesn’t understand what is going on. Once a little time passes and we all spend time with her, I think she will be OK. She is a darling girl that deserves a loving home.

Description

Ashley and Zweena came from a very loving home, but their mother had to go into an assisted living because she is very ill. She loved her kitties very much and took good care of them. She rescued them from a horrible hoarding situation and provided them with the loving home that they deserved. She wanted to make sure they found a new loving home, so she contacted us, in hopes that we could help her. We told her we would be more than happy to help her and her babies.
Ashley is a very beautiful girl who right now is scared and confused. She does not understand why she is not home with her loving mom and is at the shelter. We told her everything was going to be alright, that there were a lot of people that will spend time with her and help her feel better.
Her mom described her as shy, but very loving and affectionate. She said once Ashley feels safe, she likes to be held and will give head-butts
Because Ashley will be scared and nervous in a new home, she will need an adopter that will be patient and willing to work with her and give her the time she needs to adjust. A few people at the shelter have been spending a lot time with her, and Ashley responds very well to them. So once in a home, with some time, I think she will be a very loving companion. Just because she is shy, it does not mean she does not deserve a chance.

I'm a savvy cat who knows the score. I'm pretty unflappable, too. I don't mind entertaining myself, but a human companion at the other end of the couch and a nice scratch behind the ears always make my day. If you're looking for a resourceful addition to your team, think about signing this Most Valuable Pussycat.

Party Animal
I'm a cat on a mission: PARTY! I love to play and explore and test my limits. I'd love to play with you, but I can make a toy out of anything: pencils, post-it notes, potatoes. If you're looking for some laughs and someone to liven up the party, think about inviting me.

Leader of the Band
I'm a cat who does everything in a big way. I not only like to be in the middle of things--I like to lead the parade. I'm an adventurous cat, but I'll still make plenty of time to show you my affectionate side. I'm the demonstrative type, you might say. Want a cat who's brimming with confidence? That's me.

The Executive
I have to say, I'm a busy cat. First, I've got to check out what's happening out the window. Next, I'll see if any closets or cupboards need looking into. And then there are my naps--can't be late for those. I can fit a little socializing into my schedule. Shall we plan on breakfast and dinner? I hope you like kibbles.

Sidekick
Like all sidekicks, I'm just plain good company. I like attention, and I also like my solitude. I don't go looking for trouble, but I'm no scaredy-cat, either. If you are looking for a steady companion to travel with you on the road of life, look no further.

Personal Assistant
You're working on the computer? Let me press the keys. Reading the paper? I'll hold the pages down for you. Watching TV? I'll just plop in your lap so you can pet me. I love an orderly household, don't you? I'll help you with all your chores, and I'll help you relax when we're done. You'll wonder how you ever managed without me.

Private Investigator
I'm working undercover to keep an eye on you and your household. You may not even know you're under surveillance. I can vanish into thin air if anyone or anything interferes with my investigation. If you need a cat who knows how to stay out of trouble and will always keep your secrets, I just might take your case.

Secret Admirer
When it comes to relationships, I'm very level-headed. I don't leap in paws first, if you know what I mean. But give me a little time, and then I'll shower you with purrs, head-butts, and plenty of lap time. In the meantime, you may not see a lot of me, but I'll be thinking a lot of you!

Love Bug
Do you seek affection? I do! If you also like petting, purrs, and paws kneading your lap, I think we might have a LOT in common. I'm looking for "someone who enjoys quiet times and togetherness." Could that someone be you?
